Independent shops in Totnes are supporting the Fiver Fest campaign, reducing items to the value of £5 to help attract shoppers to the High Street.
More than 40 shops and eateries have confirmed they will be taking part in the initiative which runs from Saturday October 5 to Saturday 12.
Samantha Branch, from Visit Totnes said: "If every adult in Totnes spent just £5 a week in our independent shops and businesses instead of at supermarkets or online it would be worth approximately £1.6 million per year to the local economy.
"We were very keen to join the national Fiver Fest because we really want to raise awareness of this message and encourage more people to shop locally."
