The Conservatives last night won a by-election on Torbay Council, taking the seat from the Lib Dems.
Tory candidate Jane Barnby took the Goodrington with Roselands seat with a majority of 251.
The party says they believe it shows 'momentum' going into next month's general election.
The Brexit Party, Lib Dems, Labour and The Greens all contested the seat which was vacated by Liberal Democrat Rick Heyse for personal reasons when he resigned last month.
The votes were Cons 892, Lib Dem 641, Brexit 168, Labour 72, Green 35.
The Tories now have the most seats on Torbay Council but the Lid Dems and Independents have more between them and they are working together in a coalition to run the authority.
