Food outlets approved for Devonshire Park

The retail park containing The Range at Paignton is set to get two new food outlets.

Torbay Council has given permission for the units in a new building at Devonshire Park.

The consent includes use by restaurants, cafes and takeaways.

The two units will be in a single curved building next door to Costa Coffee at the corner of the site between Brixham Road and Long Road.

The scheme was given conditional approval after no objections were received to the planning application.

The single-storey building will have a flat “green roof” planted with vegetation.

The permission allows for some types of shops or cafes and restaurants selling hot and cold food to be eaten in or taken away.

The retail park opened last autumn with a branch of The Range discount store, Pets At Home and Iceland’s new concept Food Warehouse.

No information was available in the planning documents about the operators of the two new outlets.

Plans show steps leading down into the retail park either side of the new building.

Police said that CCTV coverage should be a monitored system to deter anti-social behaviour, especially on the steps, when the premises were closed.
