Inside Torbay's 'community kitchen'

More than £10,000 has so far been raised by an online appeal for the Torbay Food Alliance which has provided 423 food parcels and 1.323 meals for people during the pandemic.

The community kitchen is working with the team at South Devon's community learning group Eat That Frog's Paignton site in The Pad.

Those involved in the service are still appealing for donations.

The crowd funding appeal says: "The alliance has been set-up to help those who are struggling to feed themselves and their families.

"We know that many people in our community have found themselves having to self-isolate, while others have found themselves with no money to buy food, or have lost their usual support networks due to Covid-19.

"This project will help the poorest and most vulnerable in our community during these extraordinary times.

"We will provide parcels of groceries and essentials, or meals for those in the community unable to prepare their own.

"Without this support, many people will go hungry! This project is essential to them staying healthy and well.

"By all of us working together, we can make a real difference to the people of Torbay who need our help – and yours!"
