Former celebrity and Royal chef now helping the most vulnerable

A former chef who has cooked for A-list celebrities and members of the British Royal Family is creating free meals for the most vulnerable in Newton Abbot.

They aim to provide more than 100 Sunday meals over the next few weeks working with Teignbridge CVS, the town's HITS Foodbank and the Avenue Church.

HITS Trustee Trish Kirkby said: "It's brilliant, that people are getting a hot meal, it gives vulnerable people a chance to flag up any problems when their meal is delivered."

Cllr Chris Jenks is Michelin trained chef whose mentor was Michael Caines MBE.

After his training Chris travelled the world cooking various cuisine's along side some of the worlds best chefs then ended up in Switzerland for  five years as a personal chef for a variety of clients ranging from A list celebrities to members of the British Royal Family.

Cllr Jackie Hook is coordinating the lists and rostering volunteer drivers to make the deliveries and can be contacted via 01626 362070.
