Footballers offer self esteem class in primary school

Torquay United Community Sports Trust are looking for more schools where they can deliver sessions.

It's after players from the team helped inspire youngsters at Paignton's Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Primary with a talk about self esteem.

The trust offer a number of different sessions which can be tailored to the school's requirements.

Coordinator and inclusion manager Emma Potter said: "One of the many options we can provide to schools is inventive cover for PPA sessions, providing children with the stimulation of a fresh voice from our experienced education team.

"PPA stands for planning, preparation and assessment.

"One of the schools we work with to cover PPA is Sacred Heart RC Primary School in Paignton and for Tuesday’s session it was a pleasure to be joined by Torquay United first-team stars Shaun MacDonald and Jamie Sendles White.

"The theme of the day was self-esteem and why it is important.

"The players talked about self-esteem in their work as professional footballers and spoke to the children about techniques for building their own self-esteem."
