Bravery: Gordon Ball
On Monday 4th July Gordon pulled a lady from the sea at Teignmouth.
He had just dried and dressed after having been for his last training sea swim, before his charity iron-man long course triathlon event, with a group of triathlete friends; when someone ran across the car park to say someone was in trouble in the sea near the pier.
When he got there someone was walking out with a lifebuoy but he didn't hesitate to go into the sea to help.
Once they were nearer to the beach another of his close friends (Yann Quelvennec) joined him to help bring her in.
Even though the lady was talking to Gordon, and later to the rescue services when she was on the beach, she unfortunately had a coronary episode and passed away.
This is the third time now that Gordon has rescued someone; previously at male at Kennick Reservoir and rescuing a girl in a dingy that had started to float out to sea at Teignmouth, and he deserves recognition for his bravery in these situations.
