North Somerset pub "closed until further guidelines" after customer contracts COVID-19

Pubs, bars and restaurants have been allowed to re-open across England since Saturday 4 July.

A North Somerset pub has been forced to temporarily shut, after a customer who was there last weekend tested positive for COVID-19.

In a Facebook post, The Lighthouse Kitchen and Carvery in Burnham-on-Sea said it was now contacting all visitors at the site on Saturday 4 July.

It also thanked customers for showing support - closing its doors two days after re-opening following lockdown:

This isn’t the message we wanted to write so soon but The Lighthouse will be closed due to a customer testing positive...

On Tuesday 7 July, the pub confirmed all staff had since tested negative for Coronavirus.

Across England, at least two other drinking establishments have also had to close again because of the virus - one in Hampshire and another in West Yorkshire.
