Man taken to hospital following knife attack in Reading

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses, after a man sustained cuts to his head and neck in St Mary's Butts at around 4am on Sunday 1st December, 2019.

It follows a verbal altercation between the victim and two other men, before the victim was punched in the face.

Two more offenders then attacked the victim - one of which had a bladed article.

The person had to be taken to hospital following the incident, but has since been discharged.

The first offender is described as being stocky, in his twenties or thirties and wearing a large chain.

The second one was said to be wearing a black long sleeve jumper with gold writing on the front.

The third was described as wearing a black North Face jacket and black cap.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Hugh Bailey, of Reading police station, said:

“I am appealing for witnesses to this incident of grievous bodily harm, which left the victim with injuries requiring hospital treatment.

“If anyone saw this incident, or recognises the physical descriptions of anyone involved, please call police with information.

“Please call Thames Valley Police on 101, or make a report online, and quote reference number 43190374839.

“Reports can also be made to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
