18-month-old baby hit with electric screwdriver in Wokingham

Anyone with information or dash cam footage is being asked to call police on 101.

A man, woman and an 18-month-old baby have been hit with an electric screwdriver during a burglary in Wokingham.

At 21:50 GMT on Tuesday night (28/7), five men broke into a property on London Road by damaging the front door.

They demanded money from the man and woman in their 50s, before hitting both them and the child with the tool.

Police say one of the victims was also sprayed with a cleaning fluid.

The offenders then drove their dark coloured Audi TT towards the male victim, who was trying to stop them leaving, before driving away towards the A329.

The three victims were left with minor injuries.

At around 21:15 GMT that same night, offenders entered a home on Clevedon Drive, Earley after smashing a rear patio door.

Jewellery, bank cards and a car key were taken. Again, the offenders left the scene in a dark Audi TT.

Officers believe the two incidents are linked.

The suspects are described as being in their late teens or early twenties, white and all wearing face coverings.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Becky Clough said: “I am appealing to anyone who has any information about these incidents to come forward.

“I am appealing particularly to motorists who were driving in the area to check their dash-cam footage and to any residents of these areas to check their CCTV and doorbell footage and get in touch if they can help with my investigation".

Police are asking witnesses to call 101, quoting reference number 43200232615.
