New event to replace cancelled Mutiny festival in Portsmouth

A brand new event has been announced for this summer in Portsmouth, in place of the ill-fated Mutiny Festival, which was cancelled last year.

South Central festival will take place in Cosham on the 25-26 May bank holiday weekend.

Last year the second day of Mutiny Festival was called off as a safety precaution, because two people were taken ill at the event, after taking drugs.

18-year-old Georgia Jones and 20-year-old Tommy Cowan were both taken to hospital, but later died.

In July last year organisers said they would 'retire' the Mutiny name, as a mark of respect for Georgie and Tommy.

They said they would relaunch the festival under a new name, and it will only be open to those aged 18 and over.
