David has recently finished filming and is about to appear alongside one of the biggest movie stars on the planet in one of this years biggest cinema releases (it's all very secret at the moment but Dave has assured us that listeners to his show will be the first to know!), so before we asked him for his autograph we also asked him these in-depth questions:
What was the first record you ever bought?
I remember the first time I went to a record shop on my own and standing with my pocket money wanting to buy Adam and the Ants album but worrying that my parents might tell me off for buying a punk record - it too me about half an hour to pluck up the courage to go for it!
The first record that I really fell in love with and still listen to today would have been Spandau Ballet's True album, all my mates were heavily into groups like Madness and The Jam but for me New Romantic was the future.
What was the name of your first pet?
When I was only 3 or 4 we had a budgie called Snowy - unfortunately as it grew up it changed in colour from white to yellow, which always created for confused looks from my school friends.
What interesting things have happened to you since you've worked in radio?
A few years ago I was challenged to appear in the Dancing on Ice Tour when it came to the South. This meant 6 weeks of intense training and then ice skating to music in front of a sell-out crowd - I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing but it's fair to say I was a bit more Todd Carty than Torville and Dean.
What question do you get asked the most?
Having five young children, hardly a week goes past without somebody saying "Five children.... Haven't you got a TV!?" To clear this up once and for all - Yes, I have a TV but unfortunately it's usually tuned in to Cbeebies or Peppa Pig, or I have to struggle to get my eldest to switch off some latest game on the Xbox - chances of watching something of my own choice are rare!
