Aston Martin and British Airways are working together to create 10 limited edition Concorde-themed cars.
The news has been announced today (26/11) on what is the anniversary of the Concorde’s last ever flight into Bristol in 2003.
The limited edition vehicle has been commissioned by Aston Martin Bristol, and will be manufactured by the Aston Martin Q department, a bespoke personalisation service. The car, the DBS Superleggera Concorde Edition, will be available to purchase now for a six-figure sum of £321,350, before being manufactured and delivered in October 2020.
Aston Martin Bristol will be selling the 10 specially commissioned vehicles to celebrate its connection to the supersonic passenger airliner with the Filton runway on its doorstep; which is home to one of the 10 Concordes built in Bristol.
The special collaboration also celebrates this year’s 100th birthday for BA and 50 year anniversary of the Concorde.
Aaron Allnutt, Dealer Principal at Aston Martin Bristol comments: “The Filton runway sits just opposite from our workshop doors, and we are neighbours with Aerospace; the home of the Bristol Concorde. So we are honoured and delighted to showcase this upcoming vehicle
as a nod towards the BA Concorde heritage here in Bristol.”
''BA Concorde and Aston Martin both represent the very best in British transport and design - so this timely collaboration allows us at Aston Martin Bristol to be part of the Concorde history in Britain. The car design will be the best of automotive and aviation design combined'' he said.
Featuring BA’s Speedmarque logo as a Chrome badge on the car’s fender, and with bespoke painted livery in BA colours on the car’s roof strakes, each vehicle beautifully adopts the BA identity and will include an inspection plaque jointly signed by Aston Martin’s Chief Executive Dr Andy Palmer and BA’s Chairman Alex Cruz.
Each element of the design has been carefully selected to highlight some of the airliner’s unique design to perfectly complement Aston Martin’s own sleek and prestigious reputation in automotive design.
With the car’s interior featuring reclaimed solid metal from Concorde, a carefully crafted Concorde silhouette for the side strake, and all having CAA-approved (Civil Aviation Authority) registrations, the vehicle truly reflects its aviation partnership. These are just some of the car’s 30+ bespoke Q features.
