As fundraising continues for Bristol Hospital's Above & Beyond charity, the group is backing a new scheme to help NHS staff deal with any long-term effects of the Covid-19 outbreak.
On Friday Chris Greig will be running for 24 hours around his home in Horfield to raise money for the charity - having already raised £1,000 ahead of the challenge (see video below).
Above & Beyond is working with University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust to develop the wellbeing plan, - including psychological, physical and healthy lifestyle initiatives.
Julie Worrall, Above & Beyond director of fundraising and development, said: "Not just in Bristol, but across the country, NHS staff have been dealing with the increased pressure of the COVID-19 outbreak in addition to all the day-to-day pressures they already face.
"This scheme will enable us to give staff the support they need to recover both physically and emotionally from the impact of the pandemic.
"We’re also investing in innovative research to protect hospital staff and our communities now and in the future."
Chris will set off on the 24 hour challenge at 12pm, only returning home for fuel stops.
