£1.5k raised to 'ensure live music venue is able to reopen'

Richard Lees and Glen Burrows, Treasurer and Vice-President respectively of Bridgwater TUC, with live music posters and the trades council banner.

More than £1,500 has so far been raised to help support a Somerset pub, which is known for its live Music.

A spokesperson for The Cobblestones in Bridgwater says they created a Crowdfunder page to 'ensure that we do actually reopen when we are allowed'.

They added: "The Cobblestones staff have a great love for the local community and we miss everyone so much.

"We want to be able to all be here when we are allowed to open and we want to be able to pour your favourite drinks and let you listen to awesome bands."

Richard Lees, Bridgwater TUC Treasurer, said: "The Cobblestones in Eastover is one of the oldest pubs in the town, a listed building, and a great live music venue

"The Cobblestones is run by music enthusiasts who not only support local musicians but like the big-city venues they bring in talent from all over the world.

"The Cobblestones has joined up with Music Venue Trust to start a fundraising campaign to secure its future and protect its history.  This is just one example of positive local action!

"Bridgwater TUC and the Musicians' Union are calling upon all trades unionists and the wider society to do all they can in the coming months to support the live music venues near them."
