17-year-old Ellie Gould was found dead at a house on Springfield Drive.
Police have named the teenage girl who was found dead in Calne on Friday (03/05) as 17-year-old Ellie Gould.
Ellie was a Year 12 pupil at Hardenhuish School in Chippenham.
Officers were called by the ambulance service to a residential address on Springfield Drive, Calne, shortly before 3.15pm on Friday (03/05).
The body of a teenage girl was located in the house and, despite attempts from the ambulance crew, she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Following initial enquiries, a 17-year-old male was arrested in the Chippenham area on suspicion of murder later that afternoon.
He remains in custody.
Superintendent Conway Duncan said: “Our thoughts remain with Ellie’s family, her friends and schoolmates.
“Ellie’s family will continue to receive support from specially trained officers and we are aware that her fellow pupils are being encouraged to seek support being organised by Hardenhuish School.
“We fully appreciate the level of shock, anxiety and upset in and around Calne and Chippenham and our officers are continuing to progress their enquiries as swiftly and diligently as possible.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our communities in Calne for the support and patience they have shown our officers as they
undertake their enquiries.”
