Newbury organisation urges public to donate clothing this winter

Newbury Building Society has launched its first ever Winter Wrap-Up Appeal.

They are encouraging employees, customers and the public to donate new or clean used winter clothing to help people stay warm this winter.

Donations will include unwanted coats, scarves, gloves, woolly or brand new socks.

Anyone can give clothing at any of the Society's 10 branches - which are in locations including Andover and Basingstoke - along with their head office.

Following the appeal, representatives will take donated items to local charities in January.

Emma Simms, Marketing and Communications Manager at Newbury Building Society said:

“A winter hat, a coat and a pair of socks may seem like a small gesture, but it can make a huge difference to those less fortunate than ourselves.

"As a Society who holds the community at its heart, we want to help local charities support those enduring cold nights on the streets, living in a shelter or who can’t afford to pay for their heating.

"We urge local people to clear out their wardrobes, and we welcome any unwanted winter warmers; every item donated will go to someone who really needs it.”

The campaign is underway and will close at 5pm, Saturday 11th January, 2020.
