New nature waterfront opened in West Berkshire

The £200,000 project has improved access and viewing at the Nature Discovery Centre in Thatcham.

Watch the video below to see the view from the new waterfront:

More than a 100,000 people enjoy the nature reserve and discovery centre every year.

The new waterfront was officially opened by the Mayor Thatcham Town Jan Cover and Barbara Muston Chair of the Berkshire Oxfordshire Buckinghamshire Wildlife Trust.

Local companies including Grundon, Tesco, the Englefield Charitable Trust, Groundwork, Greenham Trust, and Thatcham Town Council helped fund the £200,000 spent on designing and building the new water frontage which has helped revitalise the centre.

The former gravel pit is owned by West Berkshire Council but operated by the Berkshire Buckinghamshire Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust.

In addition to walkers and joggers around 4,000 schoolchildren also visit the centre every year.
