Man from Basingstoke completes gyrocopter challenge

Picture credited to Popham Airfield

A man from Basingstoke has been celebrating after he became the first person to fly solo around the world in an open-cockpit gyrocopter.

37 year old adventurer James Ketchell landed safely at Popham Airfield yesterday in the small aircraft.

James first set off on his challenge at the end of March.

After a long and challenging journey, he made his home yesterday.

Crowds were there to greet him when he landed at Popham Airfield.

This video was posted by the Airfield's Twitter account.

James has been raising funds for the Kindled Spirit and Over The Wall children's charities - and has raised more than £10,000 for charity.

You can find out more about why on his fundraising page.
