Lorry Driver Arrested In Connection With Fatal A34 Crash

A 40 year old man's been arrested in connection with a fatal collision involving a lorry, van and a car on the A34 southbound yesterday (Tuesday 3rd July).

The lorry driver from Huddersfield's been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving while under the influence of drink and drugs.

A 43 year old man from Reading was pronounced dead at the scene at Bullington Cross.

Three others remain in hospital - one in a life-threatening condition.

The collision closed the southbound carriageway until 12.30am today (Wednesday 4th July), due to extensive damage caused to the crash barriers, which needed to be repaired.

Investigations into the exact circumstances of the collision are ongoing.

Police believe there would have been a lot of people travelling on the A34 at this time of the morning.

Officers want to speak to anyone who was on this section of the road in the lead up to the collision.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Hampshire Police on 101, quoting 44180248886, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
