The founder of a charity in Hampshire has been speaking exclusively to us about how her battle with breast cancer inspired her to help people in need.

Helen Bradley heads up Flourish, which is trialling a variety of techniques at its centre near Petersfield with the aim of helping people overcoming major illness.

Helen's told us she wants experts to get behind efforts to help those suffering from a number of issues:

"Hampshire has something called the strategy for health and wellbeing, which is aimed at looking at communities and services over the next five years.

"Officials in the county have found they want communities to be more connected, to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness."

Helen feels events like the recent East Hampshire Dementia Festival are making a difference, but she wants more to be done:

"Sometimes it's about meeting other people and knowing you're not your own and in you're in the same boat - it's massive.

"I think the Dementia Festival was a huge success and it was also really good for people like me and other organisations to talk."
