The Liar - Nora Roberts
"She sat on the floor with harsh colours against hard white walls, rocking, weeping. Weeping not because the man she’d loved was dead, but because he never existed."
A suspense filled tale of betrayal, loss, family and finding true love again, all in one book – something you’d expect to get from bestselling author of over 200 novels, and third most bestselling author in the World – Nora Roberts.
Title: The Liar
Author: Nora Roberts
Published: 16th April 2015
The Liar tells the story of Shelby, who’s just lost her husband in a freak accident.
We begin with her devastation at finding herself a young widow with a small child, to realising her husband wasn’t the person she believed he was.
We follow Shelby as she pieces the puzzle of his lies and deceit together, while realising what true love should be, through her family, friends and new love interest, Griff.
But who is the shadowy figure lurking in the darkness?
I love Nora Roberts, the suspense she fills every page with is, by and large, brilliant. However, The Liar can, at times, seem a little predictable.
I guessed what would happen at the end about two thirds of the way in. That’s not to say it’s not a great read, Roberts’ portrayal of the settings at the main characters is magical.
But if I was being truly critical, it could’ve been a little shorter, and a twist at the end would’ve been appreciated.
So in all, a good novel, but I’d recommend other Nora Roberts books before this one.
If you want drama, thrills and a chilling story – try Divine Evil.
