The My Sporting Times '(MST) Winter Trail Run Series' kicks off across Berkshire starting from today (1st December)

The Mapledurham Ten - which is into its fifth year - is the first event and includes 10k and 10-mile multi-terrain courses that take in the Mapledurham Estate.

The Muddy Welly Run, hosted at the Wellington College in Crowthorne for the seventh time, is the second event on Sunday, 15th December.

This is a 5km circuit, taking in woodland paths and nature reserves.

The Muddy Welly will be raising funds for the charity - Bloodwise, in honour of MST friend, Steve Blosse, who passed away in 2015.

The winter programme of mud-fest events then concludes with 'The Gut Buster' on 29th December, which takes in 10k and 10-mile multi-terrain courses around Silchester.

In a bid to reduce the amount of plastic at each race, MST Events have implemented their ‘Going Greener’ campaign for the Winter Trail Run Series.

This initiative will ask runners to bring their own water bottles and donating old trainers to a local charity called The Cowshed.

The charity supports individuals and families in Berkshire who are experiencing difficult times.

Race Director, Ellie Barnes, said:

“I’m very excited about the Winter Trail Run Series this year – having taken part in the events as a runner over the past 5 years – it is exciting to be on the other side of the fence and organising the events this year.

"The number of entrants is growing year on year – we get great reviews every year and people come back for the fun, friendly atmosphere."
