Roof of Slough flats blows-off in extreme winds

Slough High Street - photo credited to Slough Borough Council

A large amount of roofing from a block of flats at the Eastern end of Slough's High Street has blown-off into the road.

The street remains closed at the Eastern side, whilst specialist officers are on site to undertake more surveys to ensure the safety of the area.

A spokesperson from Slough Borough Council told us it is assisting emergency services.

The housing association is also on site.

The Council says it is planning to remove the debris when appropriate, after all safety checks have been completed.

The road is not expected to re-open today, Slough Council said: "Apologies for any inconvenience and thank you all for your patience."

People are being advised to avoid the area if possible.
