Police in Waterlooville say Nitrous Oxide cannisters are becoming increasingly popular in the local area - but are warning of their 'sinister consequences'.
Local police officers said young people are releasing the gas into balloons and inhaling it, causing them to feel dizzy.
Police said in some situations prolonged use can cause severe nerve damage.
The local force are warning parents to be aware of the cannisters in their children's bedrooms and in local parks.
They have also shared advice on using Nitrous Oxide via the Talk To Frank website.
