Business across Hampshire are going to be made aware of available support in anticipation of Brexit.

Hampshire County Council are working alongside local organisations to highlight the guidance and support they can offer.

Councillor Rob Humby, Executive Member for Economy, Transport and Environment said:

“Hampshire has a thriving economy, and we want to do all we can to help local businesses get ready for Brexit.

“As part of both the Solent and the EM3 Local Enterprise Partnerships, we have been highlighting local Brexit preparedness events run by the Government, and continue to work with the local Chamber of Commerce to help them secure national funding to run events on trading with the EU with a specific focus on supporting SMEs in Hampshire.”

Hampshire and the Isle of Wight's export industry is worth over £23 billion, with 40% of exports going directly to the EU.

Councillor Humby continued:

“Brexit will impact on all sorts of businesses, not just those where exporting is a big part of what they do.

"I am pleased we have been able to help the Hampshire Chamber of Commerce secure funding for regional events where local businesses have the opportunity to talk directly to industry experts on topics such as foreign exchange, regulatory changes, specific SME advice and how to manage risks.”
