Royal British Legion urges public to support D-Day commemoration parade

Members of the public are being urged to support a special commemorative parade, which is taking place in our area next month.

On Saturday 22nd June a convoy of vintage World War Two vehicles will be making a journey from Southwick House in Hampshire to Greenham Common in Berkshire.

It's to replicate the journey General Eisenhower took on the 5th June 1944 - and it's part of efforts to make the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

Jim Parker is from The Royal British Legion, which is organising the event:

"We're trying to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for us.

"You think of what is such a momentous occasion - what those people did for us and the sacrifice they made for us, this is our way of saying thank you."

You can find out more about what'll be happening to marks 75 years since D-Day on the Royal British Legion's website.
