Young Enterprise Trade Fair

Students from across West Berkshire will be taking part in the Young Enterprise Trade Fair in Kennet Shopping this Saturday 31st Jan from 9 am - 5.30 pm.  All the students are taking part in the Young Enterprise Company Programme where they create and run their own real company for a year.  Each student company will have a trade stand in the Kennet Centre and will be selling products such as fruit infusion water bottles, character USB sticks & eco-friendly scented candles.

Young Enterprise in West Berkshire is part of a national charity.  It's delivered by the local board which is made up of volunteers and one full time development manager who provides support and training.  The Company Programme is run in the schools by volunteer business advisers from local businesses who along with teacher volunteers give up their time to mentor and guide the students through all the stages of setting up and running their real company.  The students make all the decisions from raising the initial share capital through to designing or choosing their product or service to selling directly to customers and ultimately winding up the company and paying taxes.  The programme allows students to develop real business experience and skills which they can draw upon when deciding on their future careers and take with them into their future workplace.
