Macular Disease Society
The Macular Disease Society is a national charity which is based in Andover.
Our vision is for a cure for macular disease in the future; excellence in treatment, rehabilitation and support now.
Macular disease (MD) is an eye condition that causes loss of central vision. This can make carrying out everyday tasks such as shopping, reading, watching television and even recognising the faces of others very difficult.
Our mision is to promote independence, confidence and quality of life for people with the condition.
We have around 15,000 members and support many more through our Helpline, Counselling, Advocacy and low vision services, and through our network of more than 200 local groups. We have a network of over 800 dedicated volunteers across the UK.
We have 11 support groups in Hampshire, offering help, support and advice to local people affected by the condition.
