Police appeal to 'stop sharing images of suspected attempted murder'

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and Gloucestershire Police are urging people to stop sharing footage on social media.

Police cordons were put in place in Gloucester's Barton Street last night after a man suffered serious injuries.

Officers were called just before 730pm to reports of an assault.

A man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and he remains in police custody.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesperson confirmed: "A second man also suffered injuries.

"Officers attended and a man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody.

"Any witnesses, or anyone with information about the incident, is asked to submit this to police online through this link.

"Gloucestershire Constabulary can also be called on 101 quoting incident 426 of 26 August."

This morning a force Tweeted added: "We have been made aware that footage of the incident that took place in Barton Street yesterday evening has been circulated across numerous media platforms.

"This must cease immediately as this will now form part of our investigation and prosecution case."
