Forest Green Rovers considering stadium decision appeal

Forest Green Rovers say they're 'extremely disappointed' after councillors refused plans for their new eco-friendly stadium near junction 13 of the M5.

The decision was made at Stroud District Council last night (Wednesday 12th June).

Concerns about noise pollution and damage to nearby the landscape were amongst the issues raised.

The club's Chairman Dale Vince has told us the decision was surprising - and they're now considering an appeal:

"The process was a bit farcical really.

"A great disappointment after four years of work and a real let down for local democracy.

"It's a great opportunity and an amazing piece of architecture."

Dale feels those in charge ignored the advice of expert officials:

"The officers made the right points but then they had to point out that they were going against their advice.

"It's a difficult situation for the council as they're now going to probably have to prepare for an appeal."
