Title: The Cake Shop in the Garden
Author: Carole Matthews
Genre: Chick Lit/ Modern Romance
Published in paperback: 23rd April 2015
The Cake Shop in the Garden tells the story of Fay Merryweather, who runs her cake shop from her garden. She spends her entire life running around after everyone and everything else, from her business, to her needy sister, her thankless boyfriend and cranky mother – BUT she never thinks about herself and her own desires.
Step forward handsome, mysterious newcomer Danny Wilde, proving to Fay that there is so much more to life than soggy sponge cakes and runny jam.
This is a perfect summertime story. Our heroine, Fay Merryweather, had me feeling every conceivable emotion. She had me sad, mad, frustrated and elated. You could totally believe in her, you could scream at the pages in front of you when she seems so blind to the betrayals around her.
How can she be so trusting and naïve? I almost willed the book to end, to rush to the final pages, just hoping that our star would get her happy ending. But does she? Well, you’ll have to read it yourself. I promise you won’t be disappointed. Though you may need to get a loan to buy a narrow boat once you’ve finished it…..
Other great reads by Carole Matthews include ‘A Cottage by the Sea’, ‘Calling Mrs Christmas’ and ‘The Christmas Party’.
