A couple from Portishead say they are stuck in New Zealand after their flight to Singapore was cancelled at short notice.
They joined with around 100 fellow British people at the consulate to try and get answers but found it was shut.
Mike Rowland, the former visitor services manager of Clifton Suspension Bridge, says they've had to rent a temporary self catering apartment for somewhere to stay in the meantime.
They say the UK Government's call for British people abroad to return home 'has come too late'.
Mr Rowland and his wife Yvonne says they feel 'abandoned' and there's 'nothing to do but wait' as they hope for a 'rescue flight to London'.
The couple have described the leaflet they were given from the consulate in Auckland as 'inadequate'.
They are now involved in a What's App group with other stranded passengers as they try to keep each other's spirits up.
They warn elderly people in the group are concerned about prescribed medications running out.
We have contacted The British Foreign Office about the situation.
We will bring you the response as we get it.
