What was the first single you ever bought?
I used to go to a shop which was really a newsagents but it had a ‘special side room’ where they sold random things, and they had a record ‘bargain bin’ where you could pick up 7” singles for 20p or something.
I’m not 100% sure, but the first one might have been by David Essex, or maybe Elkie Brooks. I was a VERY cool child(?!)
What’s the funniest thing to happen to you on air?
Taking a challenge, involving cinnamon, which you definitely shouldn’t try at home. I didn’t find it particularly funny at the time (because I couldn’t breathe or speak!), but others in the studio did and listeners voted for me to do it again. Maybe they were trying to tell me something…
What’s the best thing about presenting on the Radio?
Getting messages/reaction from listeners (apart from them voting as mentioned above!). You never know what they might come up with next…
What are your 3 favourite things?
Roast dinners, empty roads, the sea.
What would be the title of your autobiography?
‘It was her fault, not mine!’ Various reasons, you’ll have to read it to see why
The Dish. Not many people seem to know it…it’s about a satellite dish which played a big part in the first Apollo moon landing. That sounds really geeky, but it’s actually a really nice and funny film, trust me!
If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go?
I still haven’t made it over to visit my sister in Tasmania. She moved there about four years ago. Her other half manages a brewery, but that’s not the real reason I want to go, honest.
What was the name of your first pet?
I had a hamster called Dozey, and we had a dog called Cindy. I can’t remember which came first, but Cindy lasted longest.
