A 27 year-old man from Southampton has been arrested following a police appeal to find a wanted suspect after a number of reports of cash being taken from tills across the county.

Officers say they have a man in custody in connection with a number of reports of cash being taken from tills in stores across Hampshire between the 21st December and Monday 7th January.

They're questioning the 27 year-old about the following incidents:

  • Cash was snatched from a till at the Highlands Road service station Co-op in Fareham at around 10.45pm on 21 December.

  • More than £500 cash was stolen from a till in Aldi on Mumby Road, Gosport, at around 6.30pm on 22 December.

  • A small quantity of cash was snatched from a till in Co-op on Arundel Drive, Fareham, at around 8.30pm on 23 December.

  • Cash was snatched from a till in Martins on Corn Market, Romsey, shortly after 4pm on 27 December.

  • Approximately £120 cash was stolen from a till in Co-op on Botley Road, Romsey, shortly before 7pm on 30 December.

  • Between 5.30pm and 6pm on 2 January 2019, a man stole around £135 from a till in Aldi on Broadwater Road, Romsey.

  • An unknown quantity of coins were stolen from a till in Waitrose on Alma Road, Romsey, between 5pm and 6pm on 3 January.

  • A robbery in which a man pushed a member of staff in the Co-op on Warren Gardens, Romsey, whilst grabbing money from the till between 5.30pm and 5.45pm on 4 January.

  • More than £200 cash was stolen from a till in Co-op on Anton Farm Road, Andover, at around 10.15pm on 5 January.

  • Approximately £110 cash was taken from a till in Co-op on Falkland Court in Eastleigh at 3.24pm.

  • Then between 7.25pm and 7.35pm on the same day, a man tried to grab money from the till at the Co-op in Warren Gardens in Romsey but the cashier closed the till in time.

  • A man then grabbed a handful of notes from a till in the Co-op on Winchester Hill in Romsey between 8.05pm and 8.15pm, again on the 7th January.

The arrest follows a wanted appeal by officers earlier this week.
