Official Opening Of New Skills Centre - 'A Once In A Lifetime Opportunity'

A ceremony today is marking the official opening of the Whitehill and Bordon Future Skills Centre.

The £4m project is aiming to train young people for careers in the construction industry.

It's being run by Hampshire County Council and Basingstoke College of Technology.

Principal of BCOT, Anthony Bravo, told The Breeze it's a key part of the regeneration of the town, "The dream is that the people who actually are trained in this centre will ultimately be the people who are involved in the building and the regeneration.

"As all the developments come on stream, they could start as apprentices and end up being managers in the very same schemes.

"It's one of those once in a lifetime opportunities to be involved in something which you know is going to make a massive difference."
