The Isle of Wight Council's Cabinet approved new recommendations for schools in the West Wight on the 10th October.
They include the decision to close All Saints' Primary School in Freshwater from 31st August, 2020.
Proposals to relocate Yarmouth CE Primary School to the All Saints' site for the start of the 2021 academic year will also be considered.
The Cabinet are also going to receive a new report in January 2020, that will seek a final decision on the closure of All Saints' CE Primary School.
The report will also provide an update on the proposal to relocate to the All Saints' site - which is undertaken the Federation of the Church Schools of Shalfleet and Yarmouth.
Five schools across the West Wight only accommodate around 90 children per year group - a number expected to fall over the coming years.
The recommendations taken are thought to provide long-term educational and financial stability for families and schools across the West Wight.
