Man disqualified from driving after high speed chase through Ludgershall

A 20 year old man, who was pursued by Police after driving at speeds of more than 70mph through Ludgershall, has been disqualified from driving for 18 months.

Ethan McDickson pleaded guilty to dangerous driving after he was caught speeding back in February.

On 15 February 2018, officers were on patrol in a marked police car travelling along the A342 on the Hampshire border, when they noticed a Volkswagen Bora travelling in the direction of Ludgershall from Andover.

When officers illuminated their blue lights in an attempt to stop the car, it continued along the A3026, failing to stop and reaching speeds of approximately 100mph.

It was lost to sight near Bulford camp.

Extensive searches were carried out and the vehicle was located in Durrington. McDickson was identified as the driver during the six minute pursuit and arrested.

PC Jonathan Brunt from Wiltshire Police said:

"McDickson has driven at excess speed and extremely dangerously for a prolonged period in poor weather, whilst being pursued by police.

"His driving standards not only fell far below that expected of a competent, careful and conscientious driver, but they actually put other road users at serious risk of injury - it is extremely lucky that nobody was hurt.

"I hope he spends the next 18 months disqualified from driving thinking hard about his actions."
