The Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) in Hampshire have held a morning discussion panel in Andover this morning (8th of February) to highlight some of the main housing and planning issues facing the Hampshire countryside and communities.
The debate was chaired by local MP for North West Hampshire and Minister of State for Housing and Planning, Kit Malthouse.
The panel, held in Mr Malthouse’s constituency, addressed some of the most important issues facing housing and planning within Hampshire. This included a focus on the new government housing proposal of ‘More, Better, Faster’ and what implications this may have for the Hampshire countryside and county as a whole.
We spoke to Kit Malthouse MP ahead of the event, he said:
"Too many people feel victims of the planning system and that the houses being built in their areas are spoiling their community. We want to find ways to put local people in charge of planning so they get houses they feel proud of that make their areas better places. We're not just building homes, we're building communities and neighbourhoods and we want to make sure that they fit with our environment and they enhance our towns and villages."
