£2m Announced For Flood Prevention Measures In Buckskin

£2m is going towards a scheme to try and prevent the floods that devastated Buckskin in Basingstoke from ever happening again.

Hampshire County Council is putting up the cash as part of a £6m project, following the floods in February 2014.

It'll cover measures including new drainage, and a flood storage area at Saunders Field.

If the funding is confirmed, work is scheduled to start in summer 2018 and will be completed in summer 2019.

The remainder of the funding for the scheme is expected from Government grant (£1.1million in Flood Defence Grant in Aid and £2.8million from Regional Flood Defence and Coastal Committee Funding) and £250,000 from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.
