Revolutionary Prostate Cancer Treatment Comes To North Hampshire

Men in North Hampshire with prostate cancer will be benefitting from state of the art equipment.

It's thanks to the North Hampshire Medical Fund who purchased the High Intensity Focused Ultrasound machine.

It's believed Basingstoke hospital is the second in the country to have the specialist equipment.

Richard Hindley, a surgeon at the hospital, told The Breeze, "The treatments are a little bit quicker, the new bit of equipment is easier to use, the image quality is better - and we can actually fuse the MRI pictures and overlay them on the ultrasound pictures that I'm looking at when I do the treatment.

"It's another incremental step forwards in terms of our ability to offer precision targeted treatment.

"It's great to have this available - it's another option for men, to be able to offer it at Basingstoke is a bonus too."
